This calculator gives an estimate only and is not a quote, pre-approval or offer of credit. It checks whether you could afford repayments if interest rates rose 3% above the rate you enter, which is the buffer Australian lenders generally use. Income tax is estimated using 2026–27 Australian resident tax rates including the Medicare levy. Living expenses use the higher of what you enter or a minimum estimate for your household size. Lenders use their own policies, so your actual borrowing power may be higher or lower.
